How the LED Works in Logisim
The LED component provides an instant visual indicator for any 1-bit signal. When its input pin (in0) is driven High (1), the circular lamp illuminates; when the input is Low (0) or floating (Z), the lamp stays dark.
LEDs are commonly placed on status flags such as Adder Carry-Out (cout), Counter overflow (ovf), Comparator outputs (A>B, A=B, A<B), and flip-flop Q outputs.
Tip: Use an LED when you want a visual status light on a 1-bit output, or use a Probe when you want to see exact 0, 1, Z, and E characters.
LED Pins & Pinout
| Pin | Direction | Width | Location & Role |
|---|---|---|---|
| in0 (In) | Input | 1 bit | Located at (0, 0), facing west by default. Illuminates the LED when driven to logic 1. |
LED Truth Table & Behavior
| Input State (in0) | LED Appearance |
|---|---|
| 0 (Low) | Off (unlit body) |
| 1 (High) | Lit (bright illuminated fill) |
| Z (Floating) / E (Error) | Off (check upstream wire color for blue Z or red E) |
